St Nectans Glen and the Rocky Valley lies just beyond Bossiney on the road between Boscastle & Tintagel and has a beautiful walk to a waterfall through woodlands.

On from this is Tintagel. The ruins of Tintagel Castle renowned for being the home of King Arthur are spectacular. It is situated on a small island approached by a bridge across the sea.

Carry on along the coastal road and you will come to Port Isaac with its quaint cottages and narrow streets. Further on is Polzeath, Rock and Padstow. There is boat from Rock to Padstow if you do not wish to drive. Padstow has lovely shops and of course that famous seafood restaurant.

If you venture inland and go to tour Bodmin Moor you will experience an abrupt change in the landscape. Jamaica Inn was the scene used for Daphne Du Mauriers “Jamaica Inn”.

Remnants of the Bronze Age such as Stone Circles, Mould and Crosses remain.


There are some impressive National Trust Houses in North Cornwall to visit such as Pencarrow, Prideaux Place and Lanhydrock.
The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are about a 50 minute drive, there are also lovely houses and gardens in that vicinity.
Right of Bude there is Sandymouth which is a 20 minute walk, there are National Trust Tearooms which serve light snacks & refreshments.

The House and Grounds at Hartland Abbey are open to the public at certain times of the year, this is privately owned. The Abbey was given by King Henry VIII to the keeper of his wine cellar whose descendants still live there today.

Clovelly which is a privately owned village, is a pretty place to visit, it is approached by cobbled streets with cottages flanked either side leading to a harbour at the bottom. Donkeys are used to transport goods up and down the cobbled paths.

Further on in North Devon there are numerous houses and gardens to visit such as RHS Rosemoor, Tapeley Park Gardens and Arlington Place House.
